My name is Peter Barnett and I am married to Angie Barnett who is also standing for election in the ward. Together, we have eight children and ten grandchildren. I was born in east London and lived there most of my life. After retiring, Angie and I moved to Beckenham to be closer to family.
I started my working life as an electrical apprentice and was employed by London Transport maintaining the power supply for the tube trains.
I was recruited by my union, the EETPU, to become the training officer based at Cudham Hall until I was asked to become a full time Trade Union officer at Hayes Court.
I have served as a local councillor in east London for twelve years, spending much of that time as the chairman of the planning committee.
I have an interest in genealogy and researching my family history.
I hope I can play a more active role in representing the residents of West Wickham.
