Following days of severe disruption to residents across Crystal Palace and the surrounding areas caused by a burst water main, we have been informed that Thames Water have repaired the burst main and are now reinstating supplies to affected areas.
They have told the Council no properties within Bromley borough remain without water supply, but there are large amounts of air in the network that could take several days to remove. They say supply issues should be minimal though.
We hope that remaining problems for residents in neighbouring boroughs will be resolved as quickly as possible, the Council and your Councillors in wards impacted (particularly Crystal Palace & Anerley Labour Cllrs Ryan Thomson and Ruth McGregor have been and continue to monitor the situation). If you do experience any problems with your water supply, please contact Thames Water immediately and let us know – if you need support or bottled water due to supply issues, please call their Extra Care Line on 0800 980 8800.
Along with local MPs, we are incredibly angry at the poor communication and engagement from Thames Water since the leak occurred. The fact they they did not even inform a number of affected Councils (including Bromley) when the leak occurred and the severe staff shortages at the bottled water station (which was over a mile away for many affected residents) and a series of other failures is incredibly poor.
We urge everyone impacted to claim the compensation they are entitled to, and will be engaging with Council officers and other representatives to call for further action to be taken to address these serious failures by Thames Water.
